Safety instructions
Before installation, commissioning, maintenance, or repair, the datasheet must be observed. All work may only be carried out by trained and properly instructed qualified personnel. Electrical connections must comply with the applicable national regulations. For Germany: VDE regulation VDE 0100.
Before performing any maintenance or repair work, all power supplies (main switch, etc.) must be switched off. In addition, measures must be taken to prevent accidental restart or reconnection. For example, attach a warning sign such as “Maintenance Work” or “Repair Work” to the main switch.
Intended use
Before installation and use, check that the model designation on the speed control device or packaging matches the designation on the delivery note. Industrial shock absorbers are maintenance-free and ready for installation.
- Temperature influence: At higher temperatures, the damping characteristics will change.
- During installation or maintenance, moving masses must be secured against unintended movement.
- Operation outside the permissible temperature range may cause the speed control device to lose functionality. Do not paint the speed control device, as this can impair heat dissipation.
- Fluids, gases, and dirt particles in the surrounding environment may attack or destroy the sealing system of the speed control device and lead to functional failure. Protect or isolate the piston rod and sealing system from foreign substances in the environment.
- Damage to the piston rod surface may destroy the sealing system. Do not grease or oil the piston rod.
- The piston rod can be pulled out of the speed control device. Do not subject the piston rod to tensile loads.
- Under load, the speed control device may tear out of the mounting structure. The mounting design must always be capable of safely absorbing the maximum occurring forces. The maximum support forces shown in the calculation program may differ from the actual support forces encountered later, since they are based on theoretical values.
Important information
General
The speed control device must not be:
- painted
- welded
- clamped
- subjected to tensile loads
When used in harsh environmental conditions (dust, water vapor, oils, etc.), the speed control device must be protected against damage and failure using appropriate accessories. If multiple speed control devices are used in the same application, the load must be distributed evenly. The Weforma catalog specifies technical data with minimum and maximum values. If the products are operated continuously within 20% of either the minimum or maximum specified values, prior written approval from Weforma is required.
Installation position
The installation position is unrestricted. However, the full stroke of the speed control must always be utilized. The speed control must be mounted so that the forces act centrally along the piston rod axis. The maximum off-center angle is 2°.

Due to the wide range of possible applications for our products and the operating conditions that are beyond our control, we do not guarantee that the product is suitable for the customer’s intended purpose. Unless otherwise expressly agreed in writing, the customer alone is responsible for verifying whether the product is suitable for the specific intended application.
For these reasons, we accept no liability for the suitability of the product for the customer’s intended purpose, except in cases of intentional misconduct or gross negligence. Any warranty or liability claims against the manufacturer shall become void in the event of damage caused by improper use or unauthorized modifications/interventions not described in these instructions.
Environment protection
Ensure that damaged parts are disposed of in accordance with applicable regulations when replaced.
